Limassol, November 28th, 2019.

It is with continuing sadness that Enesel LTD., managers of container ship THALASSA PATRIS, (IMO No 9665607, sailing under the flag of Singapore), report the following update regarding the continuing search on board for their Second Officer who was reported missing on November 23rd and has still not been found.

The search and rescue operation was initiated on November 23rd at 06:50UTC and continued until November 24th at 08:43UTC, with the valuable assistance provided under the command of the regional authorities. Regrettably this operation was not successful in locating our Officer.

The vessel’s officers and crew ceaselessly continue to systematically and exhaustively search for him on board. The thoughts of the crew and officers of the vessel and those of the company are with the family of the missing Second Officer, a valued member of the Enesel family.

The Second Officer was last seen after the change of watch at 22:00 UTC on November 22rd, whilst the vessel was sailing in the Indian Ocean, 62 nautical miles south-west of Sri Lanka and weather conditions north-east wind force 6 and sea state 1.2 to 1.5 meters.

As soon as the Second Officer was confirmed to be missing the man overboard protocol was triggered and a search and rescue operation immediately commenced. The vessel, under the command of the pertinent authorities, retraced her route back to where she had been at the time of the change of watch.

At 08:43UTC on November 24th, the vessel was regrettably ordered by the Colombo MRCC to conclude the search and rescue operation and to continue with her voyage. ENESEL has been in continuous contact with all relevant authorities throughout the incident and is accordingly providing full support, assistance and resource to the process as it continues to evolve.

Enesel Limited. remain in close contact with the Second Officer’s next of kin throughout this entire operation and will continue to do everything within their power to stand by and support the Second Officer’s family in this difficult time.
